We use a small footprint, light (1800lbs) machine in order to limit the damage to existing turf; a 30 inch wide opening is all we need to access backyards, basements, etc...
This is the hydraulic press that pushes 2.5 foot long rods into the ground.
A directional head containing a radio sonde is attached on the first rod in order to control the depth and the direction of the bore.
The power unit provides the 3,000 psi of hydraulic pressure necessary for the press.
The whole package is organized on a heavy duty trailer for easy transportation.
